7.  Can a therapy dog be used to provide comfort during 

     or after a disaster?


No. It is unsafe for the people impacted by disaster, the responders, the handler and the dog. Canine teams 

require special training, temperament, handling, and 

stress management skills to effectively and safely handle 

the intensity and complexity of the environment 

and emotions following crisis.
